‘Nkd’ at MCCC

This May, Mercer County Community College showcases two original one-act plays developed in Alex’s playwriting course.

Produced by Kyrus Westcott, Nkd: A One-Act Festival explores the funny and dangerous territory of “sex, lies, and life” in two parts. “Distortion,” written and directed by James Jaketic, is a comedy about two slacker bandmates and lifelong friends who come to blows when one of them starts dating an ambitious young woman. “Post Coitus,” written and directed by Noah Ballard, tackles the dark side of the bedroom as three college students engage in an escalating volley of seduction, betrayal, and sexual revenge.

Nkd: A One-Act Festival performs Friday, May 23 and Saturday, May 24 at 8:00pm, with a matinee performance on Sunday, May 25 at 2:00pm. All performances take place at The Studio Theatre on the Mercer County Community College campus (1200 Old Trenton Road / West Windsor, NJ 08550).

‘Macbeth’ at MCCC

This April, Jody directs the theatre students of Mercer County Community College in an edgy new production of Macbeth. Many of us have seen the play, but never like this!

Staged on a minimalist, all-white set that grows redder with each murder, Mercer’s Macbeth features male and female students alternating the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. With multiple performers in the lead roles, the production begs the question: If each of us has the potential to be “foul,” how far will we go to claim what we feel is ours?

Macbeth premiers Friday, April 18 at 8:00pm and continues at 8:00pm on April 19 (Saturday), April 25 (Friday), and April 26 (Saturday), with a 2:00pm matinee performance on Sunday, April 27. All performances take place at The Kelsey Theatre on the Mercer County Community College campus (1200 Old Trenton Road / West Windsor, NJ 08550).

Feel the power. Does it turn you on?
